Our Standards

The Hungry Hollow Standard

People are often surprised when they see the price of our products. We understand. It’s not the cheapest food around. But there are many ways we could make it cheaper. We could take shortcuts, like most of the industry does.

We choose not to.

Here are just a few of the paths we’ve left untaken:

We could raise our animals in confinement.

It would cut our labor costs in half. We’d rely more on antibiotics, but that’s considered normal in modern agriculture. The animals wouldn’t see the sun, but we’d save a lot of money.

We could raise fast-growing, industrial breeds.

Breeds that grow quickly and convert feed efficiently, even if their meat is bland and their joints give out too soon. With shorter lifespans, our margins would grow.

We could feed cheap grain.

Corn and soy (especially the genetically modified kinds) are easy on the budget. But we’d sacrifice the nutritional quality of our products.

We could grain-finish our cattle.

Grain packs on pounds quickly, even if it makes ruminants sick. Feed them grain for a few months, harvest before the damage shows, and the beef is tender and cheap. That’s the industry standard.

We could sell at unsustainable prices.

Even while keeping our standards, we could undercharge to attract customers. Many farms do. But a few years in, their doors close quietly, unable to pay their farmers a living wage.

We’ve chosen a different way. It’s not the easy road, but it’s the right one for us.

Here is what we stand for:

🐓 Pasture-Raised, 24/7

Our animals live outdoors on pastures and in forests. Fresh air, sunshine, and natural forage are their birthright.

🐣 Slow-Growing Genetics

We raise slow-growing breeds with strong legs, vibrant health, and real flavor. They take longer to raise, and it’s worth every extra day.

🫘 Soy-Free

We don't feed soy to any of our animals. Instead, we source diverse, high-quality grains and forages that produce healthier meats.

🐄 Grass-Fed
Our cattle are raised and finished on pasture, the way ruminants were made to live. No feedlots. No shortcuts.

🌱 Regeneratively Raised

We manage our animals to build soil, sequester carbon, and restore the land. Every season, our pastures grow richer and more vibrant.

💊 No Drugs
We never use antibiotics, growth hormones, or other crutches. Good genetics, clean pasture, and attentive care are enough.

We farm with reverence. For the land. For the animals. For the people who eat what we grow.

This is food you can feel good about, because it was raised with care, honesty, and intention at every step.

The world is full of cheaper options, but few better ones.

Thank you for walking this path with us.
